Join BPI for Power In Community: Forging Ahead, the 2022 annual event. Come out for our first in-person event in two years, and celebrate BPI’s racial and social justice work meeting today’s challenges while laying the groundwork for the future.

The cocktail reception will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, from 6-9 pm at the Chicago History Museum. The Jazz Institute of Chicago will provide entertainment and a special guest performance.

Annual Award Recipients

This year’s event features two award recipients whose work aligns with BPI’s mission to combat systemic barriers to equity and fight for racial, economic, and social justice. Leon I. Walker will receive BPI’s 2022 Champion of the Public Interest Award, and Candace C. Moore is this year’s BPI Alumni of the Year.

Entertainment

This year’s in-person annual event will feature a musical performance by The Jazz Institute of Chicago. The only jazz organization in Chicago that offers opportunities for musicians at various stages to create and perform new work in high visibility venues; and collaborates directly with Chicago Public School teachers to develop programs for their students.
