BPI Mourns Passing of Robert “Bud” Lifton

Screen Shot 2016-08-01 at 9.52.05 AMBPI is saddened by the passing of director and former Board President Bud Lifton, whose service to BPI began in 1972, just three years after BPI’s founding. He actively and enthusiastically led, supported, guided, and promoted BPI and our work for the past 44 years.

Organizationally, BPI benefited in countless ways from Bud’s wise counsel, spirited leadership, and unwavering commitment to social justice. A principled and deeply committed civic activist throughout his entire life, Bud worked with many Chicago organizations over the years, lending his extraordinary expertise, kind nature, wise mentorship, good humor, and many talents to numerous efforts in pursuit of justice, opportunity, and education.

Our heartfelt condolences to Bud’s wonderful family—his wife, Carol Rosofsky, their children, Amy, Julie, and Emily Lifton and Steven, Amy, and Rebecca Rosofsky, many grandchildren and one great-granchild. Bud’s son, David Lifton, died in December 2015.
