After years of planning, Lathrop redevelopment begins

BPI was pleased to attend the Oct. 10 groundbreaking celebration of the redevelopment of Lathrop Homes, an effort that has involved many years of planning. The first phase of construction of the mixed-income development is now underway, and will include 414 historically preserved but modernized apartments, 60 percent of which will be public and affordable housing. Under a court-approved agreement with BPI, CHA will also provide over 600 additional units on Chicago’s Northside to replace 525 “lost” public housing units on the Lathrop site.
